Job Description: PURPOSE: This position is responsible for providing engineering support to a manufacturing line at our Renewal by Andersen location in Cottage Grove, MN. Primary focus will be on monitoring, controlling, and improving existing manufacturing processes, and to ensure customer and business needs are met. The ideal candidate for this position is an innovative thinker and has a passion for operational excellence.

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering or equivalent engineering experience
  • 3+ years of engineering experience preferred with mechanical aptitude
  • Understands and applies methodologies associated with project planning and experience working with collaborative, cross functional teams
  • Strong aptitude in problem solving using analytical tools and making process improvements
  • Communicate effectively through written, verbal, listening, and presentation skills
  • Knowledge and experience with quality systems, statistical process control, process capability and lean manufacturing tools
  • Ability to effectively apply acquired knowledge and skills to a variety of assignments within a moderate range of technical difficulty
  • Strong experience in building and maintaining relationships
  • Experience with change management strategies

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of 2D & 3D solid modeling preferred (AutoCad/Inventor)

Responsibilities

  • Utilize effective lean process design techniques to optimize overall manufacturing system performance by providing innovative solutions that integrate within the value stream
  • Plan, organize, and lead technical aspects of large-scale assignments to successful conclusion
  • Create training tools, documents, and standard operating procedures for production processes ensuring consistent manufacturability
  • Provide recommendations regarding the viability of developed design solutions that relate to new or current processes
  • Facilitate cross-functional team meetings, kaizens, and Process System Design events
  • Drive corrective action through root cause identification and structured problem solving
  • Partner with the Safety group to ensure all new or modified processes meet or exceed corporate safety requirements
  • Accurately assess ergonomic conditions within the manufacturing environment and provide practical solutions to eliminate ergonomic risk
  • Exhibit persuasiveness to sell continuous improvement ideas to value stream management and delivery partners
  • Stay well-informed on industry technology developments and explore their use in Andersen products
  • Provide operational technical support for existing applications and processes
  • Ensure built in quality by using DMAIC tools: Process mapping, process capability, C&E Matrix, fishbone diagram, FMEA, MSA, DOE, Control Plans
