About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineer II is responsible for developing and implementing manufacturing processes for the KARGO UAV program. This role bridges the gap between design engineering and the shop floor, ensuring that complex aerospace components—including machined assemblies, sheet metal, and fiberglass composites—are produced efficiently and meet all technical specifications. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in a rapid prototype environment and is capable of generating detailed manufacturing instructions to guide production personnel.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Strong ability to interpret technical drawings and generate detailed work instructions.
  • Expertise in manufacturing processes for aerospace-grade metals and composite materials.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems for production tracking.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to adapt to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset.
  • College or Associates Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Production Engineering.
  • Previous experience as a manufacturing engineer in the aerospace industry (preferably rotorcraft or fixed-wing manufacturing).
  • Must meet U.S. Government Export Control compliance requirements as a “U.S. Person.”

Responsibilities

  • Manufacturing Documentation: Generate clear and accurate manufacturing instructions for simple and highly complex machined assemblies, sheet metal components, and composite structures (primarily fiberglass).
  • Technical Planning: Develop manufacturing plans, assembly instructions, and optimize process flows to reduce waste and improve lead times.
  • Hands-on Support: Work directly with manufacturing equipment (CNC, benders, waterjet, riveting, etc.) and aircraft components in a rapid prototype production environment.
  • Design Collaboration: Collaborate with design engineering using SolidWorks to provide feedback on manufacturability and incorporate design changes into production workflows.
  • Process Optimization: Use analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements.
  • ERP Utilization: Maintain accurate production data and material tracking within the company’s ERP system (Costpoint/SAP).
  • Inter-departmental Coordination: Align daily activities with manufacturing and operations personnel schedules to ensure program milestones are met.
  • Compliance: Ensure all manufacturing steps are documented for traceability and comply with AS9100 or other relevant quality standards.
