In this role, you will develop and implement manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, quality, and safety. You will conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to resolve manufacturing issues, ensuring continuous improvement and reliability. Leading and participating in process improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies will be a key aspect of your responsibilities. You will perform preventive maintenance tasks to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will optimize production processes and resolve technical issues effectively. Additionally, you will assist in the development and documentation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions to standardize operations and maintain quality. You will read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and engineering drawings to support manufacturing activities, and analyze production data to identify trends and recommend process improvements. Your focus will also include assisting in the development and implementation of manufacturing processes and conducting root cause analysis to address and resolve issues.

Requirements

  • Requires Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or physics (or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree).
  • Typically 2+ years of related experience.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing principles and practices, engineering techniques and methodologies.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (ex: NX).
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience in process improvement initiatives.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience in conducting process validation and verification tasks.
  • Basic knowledge of safety regulations and practices.
  • Proficiency reading technical manuals and schematics.
  • Knowledge of equipment calibration and testing procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in aerospace, mechanical, manufacturing engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Certification in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma (e.g., Green Belt, Black Belt).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven track record in a space or aerospace manufacturing setting.
  • In-depth understanding of spacecraft subsystems, including structures, mechanisms, avionics, propulsion, and high-pressure systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and implement processes from the ground up, with strong communication skills to engage a diverse team.
  • Successful introduction of new aerospace hardware systems into manufacturing, testing, and production environments.
  • Experience in implementing AS9100 quality standards.
  • Proficiency in onboarding MES, PLM, and ERP systems.
