SUMMARY The primary objective of the Manufacturing Engineering Team is to continuously improve manufacturing processes by removing obstacles to Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Productivity. The Manufacturing Engineer II - Plating provides engineering support for plating process design and optimization, tooling, troubleshooting, new equipment procurement, and regulatory compliance. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The Plating Support ME will work with the associates in the area, Plating Quality Tech, EH&S, Materials Team, and other support functions to do the following: · Ensure regulatory compliance of all processes and operations ( OSHA, EPA,VDEQ, etc..) · Create and maintain Job Hazards Analysis (JHA) documents · Lead 6S improvements · Maintain and improve tooling · Disposition Plating related discrepancies · Track yield and lead problem solving related to yield issues · Lead problem solving efforts to resolve production and compliance issues · Purchase and direct the maintenance of plating related equipment, including writing capital request as needed · Lead safety improvement efforts – personnel, equipment, and environmental · Create and update plating specific operations on routers · Create and update plating process documents (IM, KPS, etc.) · Determine processes flows for non-standard processes · Lead efforts to improve process productivity and regulatory compliance · Create and oversee Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) plans for baths and equipment · Lead waste stream planning efforts · Manage regulatory audits and lead corrective action plans resulting from audits · Develop and manage training plans, and conduct training audits of new associates · Establish plans and methods for purchasing chemicals and other consumables · Create a system for retaining and maintaining plating related records, such as SDS, purchases, material certifications, etc. · Create reaction plans for non-standard conditions in any of the plating process from both the standpoint of safety and process quality · Serve as a backup for certain critical tasks normally performed by the Quality Technician Critical Competencies · Must have a strong problem-solving mindset with a history of defining root cause and applying permanent countermeasures. · Demonstrated experience/skills in the following Kaizen events: Standard Work, 6S, Variation Reduction Kaizen (VRK) · Strong communication skills - ability to interact with people at all levels of organization · Knowledge of plating operations and best practices. · Ability to utilize performance data to identify areas for improvement. Education and Experience Requirements Required Skills and Experience: · BS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, a related discipline, or equivalent experience. · Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing experience. · Excellent written and verbal communication skills. · Proficiency with Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, and Power Point · Able to create and interpret part drawings and process documents. · Demonstrated ability to lead a small team or to work independently with little to no oversite Desired Skills and Experience: · 5+ years of manufacturing experience. · Plating and other chemical surface treatment processes · Project management of team and individual projects · Working in a Lean Production environment and using 3 or more of the following tools: o Single piece flow o Variation reduction o Standard work o Value stream mapping Physical Demand and Work Environment: Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
