About The Position

In this exciting role as a Manufacturing Engineer II supporting Connectors Manufacturing, you will be responsible for supporting the production of high-quality components used in implantable medical devices. The Brooklyn Center facility is dedicated to the design, development, and production of components for various Medtronic businesses. In this position, you will gain experience with products across Medtronic's portfolio, fostering your professional development and growth. Reporting to the Connectors Engineering Manager, you will focus on enhancing manufacturing quality, reducing lead times, and lowering costs through active problem-solving, developing solutions, and implementing process changes in compliance with the quality system.

Requirements

  • Injection molding and/or assembly process experience (ultrasonic welding, resistance welding, electrical testing, assembly, adhesive dispensing).
  • Experience in a regulated industry such as medical devices (preferred), aerospace/defense or automotive.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Strong Attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving skills & mindset and ability to work both independently or in a team-oriented environment.
  • Can break down ambiguous problems logically, even without all the data.
  • Uses structured thinking (root cause analysis, etc).
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Work experience with the following: FDA Quality System Regulations, current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), ISO 13485, ISO 9001 standards or equivalent.
  • Proactive and Resourceful; seeks out all avenues to find relevant information.
  • Willing to deep dive into drawings, SOPs, specifications, and talk to operators to understand a process.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for day-to-day activities regarding Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Delivery for a production line (Assembly and/or Injection molding lines).
  • Improves manufacturing processes, procedures and test methods for Injection molding or assembly processes (ultrasonic welding, resistance welding, electrical testing, assembly, adhesive dispensing).
  • Drive Programmatic savings projects to improve scrap, labor efficiency or reduce overhead costs.
  • Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
  • Incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.
  • Investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.
  • Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques.
  • Provides guidance regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
  • Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
