HID Global is seeking a Print Shop Manufacturing Engineer to be an integral member of the Manufacturing Engineering team in Austin. This role is essential for maintaining and optimizing production processes with a focus on equipment functionality, efficiency and performance. Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for equipment in the designated work area, new product introduction efforts, production verification testing and functional testing, as well as documenting processes and developing detailed work instructions. Team player with strong communication skills in a global and multi-cultural environment with worldwide teams and active collaboration with suppliers and sub-contractors. Requirements

  • Desired Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering.
  • 2-5 years of Manufacturing Engineering experience.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations consistent with the engineering discipline.
  • Have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, ISO standards, etc.
  • Must be a dependable team player, able to work independently in a fast-paced environment and be proficient at conflict resolution.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Windows OS and Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. along with a high degree of PC technical skills.
  • Must be motivated, pro-active, responsive, and have the ability to think outside the box.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with printing equipment usage and capabilities a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle ERP system and Agile PLM software.
  • Experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD drafting software.
  • Possess strong organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple projects with continuously changing priorities.
  • Experience with common Quality processes and tools (TQM, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, SPC, FMEA, Kaizen)

Responsibilities

  • Optimizing setup of printing equipment through Design of Experiments (DOE) and other statistical analytical methods that characterize equipment functionality.
  • Troubleshooting equipment software and hardware issues affecting production orders.
  • Coordinating production line set-up and machine upgrades with the responsible team members.
  • Identifying Continuous Product Innovation (CPI) opportunities and share with Global teams.
  • Creating Work Instructions for new products or update them to improve overall manufacturability, followed by training of manufacturing personnel on the implemented changes.
  • Working closely with material suppliers to develop product design specification requirements for new and revised parts and assemblies.
  • Identifying opportunities for process and yield improvements in support of work center production efficiencies and throughput.
  • Developing equipment maintenance and calibration procedures.
  • Collecting, analyzing, and creating reports from raw data (Yield, Cycle Time, Capability, Trends, etc.)
  • Interfacing with Project Management, Customer Service, Suppliers, Supply Chain, Quality, and Operations to develop value added process workflows and routings that reduce inefficiencies and non-conformances.
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting both electrical & mechanical issues in a manufacturing environment.
  • Assisting with root cause analysis and corrective action for field non-conformance issues.
  • Creating and updating Bills of Materials (BoMs) through Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
  • Supporting Value Engineering (VE) analysis projects to identify cost saving opportunities.
  • Implementing Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement Projects (CIP).
