About The Position

International has an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer - General Assembly at our state-of-the-art San Antonio Assembly Plant. This position is ideal for a hands-on, data-driven engineer passionate about improving production systems, solving complex manufacturing problems, and launching world-class products. As a key member of our team, you will act as the first responder to daily production issues related to safety, quality, and throughput, using tools like 8D and 5-Why to drive continuous improvement. You'll work closely with R D, Quality, and Production to ensure our trucks are built to spec and processes are robust and efficient. You'll also play a critical role in supporting new product introductions (NPIs), ensuring seamless equipment commissioning and process readiness. San Antonio Manufacturing runs a 4x10 production schedule (Mon-Thurs, 5:30AM - 4:00PM). This role will support production and may need to cover production recovery times including Fridays and weekends as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree OR At least 2 years of product manufacturing experience.
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Torque Tooling Experience - Hands-on experience with torque tooling systems; Atlas Copco preferred.
  • Critical Thinking & Problem-Solving - Strong ability to apply methodologies such as 5-Why, Fishbone (Ishikawa), Kepner- Tregoe, etc., to resolve complex production issues.
  • Equipment Design & Commissioning - Proven experience in designing, installing, and commissioning production equipment and tooling.
  • Analytical Skills - Ability to analyze manufacturing data (e.g., MTTR, MTBF, downtime, scrap trends) to drive continuous improvement.
  • Customer-First Mindset - Dedicated to delivering high-quality products and processes that meet or exceed internal and external customer expectations.
  • Strong foundation in manufacturing and automated assembly processes.
  • Proven experience in tooling and equipment design and implementation.
  • Project management experience, from concept through commissioning.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and communicate across departments.
  • Familiarity with 3D product viewers, TeamCenter, or similar PLM tools.
  • Experience with MES/ERP systems, error-proofing concepts, AGVs, and stamping operations is a plus.
  • Strong floor presence with a passion for operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead resolution of daily production issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Optimize and sustain General Assembly processes using production data (tooling, scrap, downtime, etc.).
  • Manage tooling and fixture projects, from design through implementation, including vendor coordination.
  • Collaborate with R D and Quality to provide Design for Assembly (DFA) feedback and drive process improvements.
  • Support New Product Introductions (NPIs) through readiness reviews, process validation, and equipment commissioning.
  • Improve key metrics such as takt time, First Time Yield (FTY), ergonomics, and station balance.
  • Maintain accurate documentation including SWIs, PFMEAs, standards, and SOWs.
  • Drive safety and quality investigations and participate in supplier escalations.
  • Provide technical input and justification for capital projects and equipment upgrades.
