About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineer will provide technical support & expertise for production tools, to ensure production schedules, quality standards, and cost targets are achieved. This position will require the candidate learn the assembly of sub systems, complete tool assemblies and test requirements. Identifying issues, developing and presenting solutions, implementing and verifying solutions meet expected benefit. This individual will be expected to learn and use structured problem tools and processes to permanently resolve problems. This position requires the individual to spend much of their time on the production floor, working with and supporting production tools, processes technicians and the MFE team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (ME, EE, Systems).
  • Experience with systems designs input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software/controls compatibility is preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge and application using Solidworks, Solidworks Composer and AutoCAD. Certification in Solidworks a plus. Experience with Solidworks Composer a plus.
  • Practical mindset with strong ability to read and interpret highly technical documents (e.g., schematics, mechanical drawings, assembly drawings, bills of material, routings, operating, maintenance, and job safety instructions/procedures) provided in verbal, written or pictorial form.
  • Experience with SPC and process control methodologies.
  • Programming languages to help speed automation or data gathering a plus.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Good understanding of system controls architecture is preferred.
  • Vacuum (UHV) and clean room experience highly desirable.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Must be willing to travel minimum of 10-20%.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Assembly & Final Test operations to support troubleshooting of mechanical/electrical, and control related issues.
  • Generate new required documentation and evaluate current documentation used in production for proper methods and process controls.
  • Analyze and resolve technical and operational problems. (8D analysis)
  • Suggest and implement changes in manufacturing environment, facilities, and equipment to increase efficiency of operations.
  • Perform disposition and rework notifications for NCM (non-conforming material).
  • Develop and deliver training to qualify technicians on complex assemblies. Continue to identify areas where shortfalls in training exists and internal capabilities need improvement.
  • Recommend and implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
  • Execute ECM's (engineering change masters) accurately, timely and cost effectively in SA.
  • Follow quality operating systems and assure knowledge of quality procedures.
  • Review and respond to technical queries from suppliers.
  • Conduct lessons learned reviews after tools ship to assure major issues have been identified and corrective action plans exists to address.
  • Partner with design engineering to evaluate new designs as part of the product life cycle (PLC) process.
  • Work closely with Contract Manufactures to transition new product platforms into production.
  • Transition new products into production and process development. (NPI)
  • Participate in Product Life Cycle projects for implementation of new products into production at contract manufacturer site from manufacturing engineering role (PLC).
  • Perform DFM (design for manufacturing) reviews and Participate in Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
  • Support manufacturing by partnering with global suppliers.
  • Provide regular status reports for activities relating to project tasks as well as objective reporting.
