As a Manufacturing engineer you will contribute to the business' success, navigating a very dynamic and fast-paced environment while solving various technical challenges relating to complex gas turbine combustion components. You may participate in daily Gemba meetings where part/project priorities are highlighted as they relate to both standard production and various development initiatives. At times, you will be on the shop floor closely working with the operators to build a robust manufacturing process in anticipation of new product release. You will collaborate daily with design and service engineering colleagues on DFM (design for manufacturing) topics for new and refurbished combustion hardware.

  • Develop and implement product specific processes used to manufacture complex gas turbine combustion components.
  • Participate in and lead manufacturing and repair process development and improvement projects on gas turbine combustion components. Effectively work with design and repair engineering colleagues on new product introduction and process development and industrialization.
  • Ensure manufacturing processes are clearly defined and communicated from manufacturing engineering to the shop floor via technical instructions, project briefings, etc.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to operators, technicians, and manufacturing engineers on the use of fixtures, tooling, and equipment.
  • Bachelor's in mechanical engineering or related engineering degree or relevant years of experience is required
  • 2 or more years of manufacturing experience in a fabrication and machine shop environment; candidates with more experience may qualify for a higher level.
  • Strong technical skills in forming and fabrication (welding, brazing, …) of Nickel-based alloys.
  • Ability to interpret complex drawings and specifications, understanding GD&T, non-destructive and destructive testing techniques, and familiarity with Lean/Six Sigma philosophies.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
  • Preferred candidate also will have experience with CNC programming and operation of laser drilling and/or machining centers.
  • Experience in heat treatment vacuum furnace operations and maintenance.
  • Proficient in CAD/CAM software, preferably Siemens NX, with experience in fixture design, sheet metal forming, and ideally robotic programming.
  • Experience in improving manufacturing processes, facilities, and production planning, along with knowledge of tooling and equipment selection.
