This position supports COLUMBIA Class. The Waterfront Manufacturing Engineer provides engineering and design construction support for submarines. This position requires that the Engineer work in a design, build and sustain environment to develop build strategies and conceptualize methods and fixtures required for fabricating and assembling submarine components, structures, ships systems and associated modules.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 0-4 years engineering experience.

Nice To Haves

• Construction support experience.
• A background in structural analysis and/or finite element analysis methods.

Responsibilities

• Identification and development of methods and tools required by the shipbuilder.
• Development of designs for tools and fixtures.
• Preparation of Manufacturing Engineering Documents for sequence and alignment critical installations.
• Direct ship yard support.
• Daily interaction with related engineers/designers, ship yard trades, manufacturing vendors, and planning representatives from Groton, Quonset Point and Newport News.
