About The Position

Summary/Objective The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for providing necessary support to Production, driving efficiency, enhancing product quality, and contributing to our overall success in the manufacture of high precision products. Their knowledge and problem-solving skills are instrumental to optimizing our production and ensuring that we meet our production targets. This role interacts with employees from all departments to ensure the highest possible quality, maximize schedule attainment, and improve product flow. Essential Functions Reviews product designs for manufacturability, proper tolerances, quality requirements, and cost drivers. Determines fixture and gage requirements for new components and designs or procures necessary items. Prepares manufacturing sketches, setup sheets, and other shop floor documents. Programs CNC machines, resolves start-up problems, and optimizes feeds and speeds to achieve minimum run time consistent with acceptable quality and adequate tool life. Performs shop-floor troubleshooting activities to diagnose and correct machinery and process problems identified by machine shop personnel and manufacturing engineering staff. Works hands-on with a wide variety of CNC lathes, machining centers, and other machines / equipment. Collaborates with other manufacturing engineers, design engineers, quality control personnel, supervisors and machine operators to maximize shop-floor productivity and product quality. Participates in root-cause analysis and corrective action of quality discrepancies. Assists in training of machine operators on company procedures and task-specific requirements.

Requirements

  • CAD / CAM experience and familiarity with drawing / design / dimensioning standards.
  • Experience setting up / operating CNC mills and lathes; mill/turn machines a plus
  • Working knowledge of general machine shop and measuring practices
  • Strong shop math skills, knowledge of work holding and machining principles
  • Good general computer skills including Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work creatively and responsibly with minimal supervision
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English
  • AS Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent
  • CAD / CAM experience and familiarity with drawing / design / dimensioning standards.
  • 5+ years of practical experience in Manufacturing Engineering support of CNC machining operations
  • CNC turning and milling experience; mill/turn experience is a major plus.
  • MRP or ERP experience desired.
  • Working knowledge of general machine shop and measuring practices.
