About The Position

There is an exciting opportunity to join us as a Manufacturing Engineer - Automation and Controls - within the Turbines Operations business. You will provide technical support to operations and execute Manufacturing Engineering activities to develop, maintain and continuously improve manufacturing processes and/or methods of manufacture, which are capable of meeting and continuing to meet business and customer requirements for safety, quality, cost, and delivery. In this role, you will create, maintain and continuously improve manufacturing processes and ensure product integrity for component is delivered through alignment of method of manufacture with design intent by interfacing with the appropriate design engineering organization. Requirements

  • An Associates of Science degree in Engineering or Technology with 4+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, OR A Bachelor’s of Science degree in Engineering or Technology with 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, OR A Master’s of Science degree in Engineering or Technology, OR JR/PhD
  • In lieu of a degree, 6+ years’ experience in Machining Operations or Engineering
  • In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must be a U.S. Citizen

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Fanuc Controls, Sinumerik 840D, TeamCenter, Siemens NX, and Vericut
  • Knowledge of PLC, HMI, SCADA, and DCS systems
  • Knowledge of Fanuc and ABB robots, Pryor and Telesis part marking systems, Atlas Copco Torque tightening systems
  • Experience with multiple machining disciplines (e.g. turning, milling, drilling, grinding).
  • Experience with aerospace materials, tolerances and processes, PFMEA, PPAP, Process Excellence (six sigma), and Lean Manufacturing best practices is strongly desirable.
  • Experience with automation software and hardware platforms
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Familiarity with industry standards and safety protocols
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Experience in project management and coordination
  • Certifications in relevant technologies or methodologies
  • Experience with machine learning and AI applications in automation
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles related to industrial automation
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Responsibilities

  • Create, maintain and continuously improve manufacturing processes and/or methods of manufacture which can meet our quality, cost, delivery, and lead time requirements
  • Create and maintain elements of the Technical Package which clearly define the manufacturing process and control them effectively: including but not limited to the development and completion of the product-specific CNC programs, technical instructions, process control plans, Characteristics Matrix, Process FMEAs and tool & fixture drawings.
  • Control and drive manufacturing process changes, including coordination of validation activities, to ensure that the project meets requirements for quality, cost, delivery rate and lead time.
  • Ensure product integrity for component is delivered through alignment of method of manufacture with design intent by interfacing with the appropriate design engineering organization.
  • Capture and analyze data to demonstrate the current and future capability of manufacturing processes in relation to component manufacturing
  • Design and develop automated systems and processes
  • Program and code automation software solutions
  • Simulate and test automation processes to ensure functionality
  • Identify and resolve system malfunctions and inefficiencies
  • Collaborate with other engineers and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with safety standards
  • Continuously monitor and upgrade existing automation systems for improved performance
  • Document all aspects of the automation process, including development and implementation
  • Provide technical support and training to end-users
  • Integrate IT and OT systems to ensure seamless communication between different technology layers
  • Create and maintain project timelines and budgets
  • Evaluate new technologies and tools to enhance automation capabilities
  • Undertake root cause analysis and corrective actions for system failures
  • Develop and implement process control strategies
