About The Position

The Associate Manufacturing Engineer will design new, modified, or improved components/process tooling in accordance with engineering standards and project scope of work. This role provides tooling and mechanical design support for manufacturing operations, with a primary focus on the design, development, and delivery of custom tooling and fixtures supporting welding, fabrication, paint, and assembly processes across multiple vehicle product lines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Engineering or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in CAD modeling software (CATIA with Windchill preferred)
  • Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD platforms acceptable with ability to ramp quickly
  • Strong mechanical design aptitude, including:
  • Understanding of material properties and basic material science
  • Ability to perform tolerance and stack-up analysis
  • Practical problem-solving for real-world manufacturing constraints
  • Ability to interpret and produce manufacturing-ready drawings with GD&T fundamentals.
  • Experience or coursework in tool design, fixture design, or mechanical design.
  • Exposure to heavy equipment, automotive, industrial manufacturing, or similar environments.
  • Familiarity with vendor coordination, sourcing, and build support for tooling or mechanical components.
  • Hands-on manufacturing experience through internships, co-ops, or shop-floor collaboration.
  • Experience supporting prototype builds or production launches.
  • Internship in a relevant engineering space.
  • Knowledge of equipment manufacturing industry or automobile industry.
  • Experience with Lean and/or Six Sigma tools.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite; including a strong emphasis on Excel.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop custom manufacturing tooling and fixtures to support safe, efficient, and repeatable production processes.
  • Create and maintain 3D CAD models and 2D technical drawings for internal fabrication, machining, and external vendor sourcing.
  • Collaborate with plant engineering, manufacturing, and shop floor operators to gather tooling requirements and incorporate operator feedback into designs.
  • Apply mechanical design principles, including material selection, tolerance stack-up analysis, and fit/function validation.
  • Support prototype tooling builds, including limited use of additive manufacturing (3D printing) when applicable.
  • Coordinate with internal tool makers and external suppliers to support tool fabrication, procurement, trials, and validation.
  • Provide hands-on support during tool tryouts, production trials, and process adjustments on the manufacturing floor.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, revisions, and configuration control using engineering data management systems.
