About The Position

Quanex is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer - 1st Shift to join our team located in Rice Lake, WI. The target salary range for this position is $64k - $96k. The working hours are from 7am to 3:30pm. This role involves daily activities on design specifications, development, vendor recommendations, and follow-up of new and redesign products and accessories for customers. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of five years experience as a product or design engineer or related engineering field.
  • Knowledge of metal and plastic design and fabrication with extrusions, mold parts, and light assembly.
  • Ability to operate CAD system efficiently.
  • Good comprehension of engineering principles, manufacturing techniques, machinery, and tools.
  • Project management experience of 1-2 years.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of metal roll-forming.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for daily activities on design specifications, development, vendor recommendations, and follow-up of new and redesign products and accessories for customers.
  • Initiates quote requests to customers.
  • Manage total project activities with a planned schedule for timely completion.
  • Operate and maintain CAD equipment and data in an efficient, productive manner.
  • Correlates, consults, and collects data, conducts tests and writes test reports, develops the project plan, and advises supervisor of recommended courses of action as required.
  • Manage and present design proposals for discussion and evaluation with management, customers, vendors, trade organizations, and code groups.
  • Manage the collection of data, assemble results, reports, and recommendations accumulated during execution of the project plan and arrange into accurate and concise documentation for the engineering project files.
  • Prepares R.F.E.'s for engineering tools and equipment needed for execution of projects.
  • Prepare and issue meeting minutes, accurately appraising design discussions in-house and with the customer, vendors, trade organizations, documenting concerns and design decisions as required.
  • Develop, analyze, and submit tolerance studies for design reviews.
  • Coordinate, supervise, and audit testing done in production.
  • Audits and assures purchased materials.
  • Prepares, executes, and releases Engineering Change Orders (E.C.O.'s).
  • Evaluates, revises, develops, and approves product and customer drawings.
