About The Position

Occupational Summary (Position Objective & Authorities) Objective: Within the manufacturing engineer job description, there are 2 separate job functions. Typically an employee will perform one or the other, not both and under close supervision. Both functions are described within. Manufacturing Engineer: Work closely with Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering to design and implement process and equipment layouts and improvements. Support Operations through technical support, product design, quality standards and process improvement. Must have strong technical skills in engineering (design and industrialization), knowledge about quality management like root cause analysis or statistical process control. Must have strong inter-personal skills and be highly energetic. This position works under close supervision.

Requirements

  • B.S degree in a related technical field (e.g.: Industrial Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer/Technology, Aeronautics Engineer, or Electrical Engineer) or an Associate degree with 6 years related experience or 12 years of job related experience
  • One to three years of manufacturing experience preferred but not required
  • Must have basic knowledge of production methods, process capabilities, tooling processes, and manufacturing processes
  • Must be capable of preparing well-written reports and orderly reports
  • Must have basic knowledge of manufacturing and related operations with detailed knowledge of such fields as product design, engineering function, tool design, tool fabrication, ergonomics and EHS, space layout, handling equipment, production machinery and equipment, N/C machinery and equipment, factory methods work, etc…
  • Knowledge and experience in Lean Manufacturing principles preferred
  • Strong knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and Operating Systems
  • Must have the ability to generate written communication and to operate required office equipment.
  • Ability to read and review written communication.
  • Speech and hearing abilities that allow individual to communicate clearly and distinctly in English.
  • Able to work collaboratively with cross functional teams and engage in healthy debate
  • Able to maintain an organized workspace and calendar to keep up with all active assignments
  • Able to approach problems both analytically and creatively to find solutions

  • Catia or design modeling a plus
  • APQP, D&PFMEA, Control Plan, etc.
  • CATIA V.5, CAD Modeling experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support related to manufacturing.
  • Troubleshoot new or existing product problems involving designs, materials, or processes.
  • Determine root causes of failures using statistical or lean methods and recommend changes to designs, tolerances, or processing methods.
  • Evaluate manufactured products according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Review product design for manufacturabilty or completeness.
  • Perform root cause analysis on non conformance.
  • Define rework processes and manage some aspects of Non-conformance records.
  • Incorporate new methods and processes to improve existing operations.
  • Create or improve toolings and jigs to facilitate the operation.
  • Manage tool control on the line. Order and register new tools if needed.
  • Lead projects of Low-medium impact or complexity and assist with projects of higher caliber.
  • Prepare documentation for new manufacturing processes or engineering procedures.
  • Purchase equipment, consumable, and non-consumable tools.
  • Train production personnel in new or existing methods.
  • Assist in the Design, install, or troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment.
  • Investigate or resolve operational problems such as material use variances or bottlenecks.
  • Prepare reports summarizing information or trends related to manufacturing performance.
  • Read current literature, talk with colleagues, participate in educational programs, attend meetings, attend workshops, or participate in professional organizations or conferences to keep abreast of developments.
