About The Position

This Manufacturing Drafter position involves creating and updating manufacturing documentation, including drawings and bills of materials (BOMs), ensuring adherence to industry and departmental standards, safety, and quality. The role requires identifying opportunities to enhance manufacturability, reduce costs, and improve product quality, and translating these improvements into drawing updates. Key responsibilities include communicating engineering design changes to internal stakeholders and documenting these changes through Engineering Notices. The drafter will perform dimensional and tolerance calculations and maintain compliance with Quality Management System (QMS), Health Safety and Environmental (HSE), and industry quality standards, providing support to QA/QC teams for audits and process development. Daily duties involve developing and maintaining 2D and 3D models using SolidWorks and AutoCAD, interpreting engineering drawings and specifications, and collaborating with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure design intent is met. The individual will also participate in safety training, adhere to required PPE and safety protocols, assist with process improvements, and adapt to changing priorities within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Drafting Technology, two (2) years of vocational training, or equivalent experience.
  • Five (5) years of relevant drafting experience in lieu of formal education.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD required.
  • Ability to work on-site in Conroe, TX.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2)+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with Teamcenter and JD Edwards.
  • Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 GD&T, engineering drawings, or wiring diagrams.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing processes such as assembly, welding, machining, or powder coating.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt, suggest, and implement changes in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Create and update manufacturing documentation including drawings and bills of materials (BOMs), in accordance with industry and departmental standards.
  • Advocate for safety and quality in all manufacturing documentation, ensuring products meet stringent industry standards.
  • Identify and capitalize on opportunities to improve manufacturability, reduce costs, enhance product quality and successfully translate into drawing updates.
  • Communicate engineering design changes and updates with all internal stakeholders.
  • Document all drawing changes in an Engineering Notice.
  • Perform dimensional and tolerance calculations.
  • Maintain compliance with Quality Management System (QMS), Health Safety and Environmental (HSE), and industry quality standards, supporting QA/QC teams with audits and process development.
  • Attend safety training and wear required safety equipment as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain 2D and 3D models using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and design requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure design intent is met.
  • Support QA/QC teams with documentation and audit preparation.
  • Participate in safety training and follow all required PPE and safety protocols.
  • Assist with process improvements and documentation standardization.
  • Adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
