The Manufacturing Digitization Engineer will lead the conversion of existing manufacturing documentation- including SOPs, work instructions, process sheets, and training materials --- into fully digital, video-enabled, and audit-ready formats. This role directly supports the Engineering department's strategic initiative to standardize and digitize plant documentation, enhance operator training effectiveness, and align with World Class Manufacturing (WCM) and IATF compliance goals. The extended scope of this project includes linking each Job# within Intouch to it's corresponding visual SOPs and WIs, allowing real-time operator access to the correct documentation at the point of use. This is a project-based engineering role requiring independent execution, technical understanding of manufacturing process, and close collaboration with cross-functional teams.

  • Digitize and standardize SOPs, Work Instructions, and Quality Documents across Injection/Compression molding and assembly operations.
  • Develop video-based training modules (60-120 sec clips) integrated into digital SOPs.
  • Design and deploy digital production forms (start-up checklists, changeover verifications, in-process quality checks) that support World Class Manufacturing (WCM) and accelerate operator training.
  • Run Pilots on one to two manufacturing cells (for example, an injection-molding or press line), gather operator feedback, iterate content, and scale after validation with formal review gates.
  • Build and maintain a central SharePoint document library with revision control and multilingual access.
  • Integrate with a Learning Management System (LMS) and Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Integrate this library with Intouch MES, ensuring each Job # automatically links to its associated SOPs/WIs and visual references.
  • Generate QR codes for point-of-use access to digital documents at each workstation.
  • Support multi-language documentation (English, Spanish, Pashto, Hindi) for accessibility.
  • Collaborate with Engineers, Process Technicians, and Operators to capture accurate step-by-step processes.
  • Establish naming conventions, metadata structures, and document lifecycle standards for digital files.
  • Work with IT to ensure proper access control, backup, and update workflows.
  • Create a rollout playbook- templates, filming, and editing standards, style guides, 5S visuals, and standard work for authoring and maintaining content- to ensure consistency across lines and shifts.
  • Support audit preparation by maintaining digital traceability, version history, and approval logs.
  • Create dashboards and reports summarizing digitization progress and compliance metrics (e.g. % converted, language coverage, audit pass rates).
  • Assist with training coordination to ensure operators complete digital learning modules.
  • Bachelors degree (or pursuing) in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering- or equivalent technical experience.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, visual standards, and documentation flow.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office/ SharePoint/ OneDrive and basic video editing tools (Clipchamp, Camtasia, or similar).
  • Excellent communication skills- able to translate technical processes into clear, visual instructions.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working on the production floor alongside operators and technicians.
  • Must be able to move freely throughout the production floor, offices, and warehouse environments.
  • Ability to stand or walk of extended periods (up to 6-8 hours during filming or documentation).
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, and lift materials, documents, or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Frequent use of computers, cameras, and digital equipment requires fine motor skills and visual focus.
  • Comfortable working in manufacturing environments where exposure to noise, moving machinery, and varying temperatures may occur (standard PPE provided).
