Department / Division: Engineering Summary: Responsible for all computer related product data such as three-dimensional model definitions, fully dimensioned drawings, and all necessary system requirements.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Responsibilities

  • Create three-dimensional product definition from customer and product engineering specifications.
  • Create fully dimensioned product drawings for customer approval and quality check sheets.
  • Create three-dimensional tool definition (tooling data sheets TDS) from manufacturing engineering specifications.
  • Create fully dimensioned tool drawings as required.
  • Responsible for revision control and maintaining drawing files.
  • Responsible for computer system troubleshooting and upgrade installations.
  • Responsible for managing customer computer files as required.
  • Plans and formulates engineering program and organizes project staff according to project requirements.
  • Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
  • Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems.
  • Directs integration of technical activities and products.
  • Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
  • Controls expenditures within limitations of project budget.
  • Prepares interim and completion project status reports.
  • Coordinates first product runs including sample submission and product verification studies.
  • Controls all aspects of engineering related quality issues including customer follow up visits. Verifies production personnel follow up visits on production related quality issues.
  • Issues engineering changes as requested from customer including internal production modifications and cost changes.
  • Issues internal engineering changes related to processes and material changes.
  • Follows products from initial quote through production release servicing the account with engineering changes as required by the customer.
