About The Position

White River Marine Group is seeking a highly motivated Manufacturing Controls Engineer to support automation and controls initiatives across our marine manufacturing facilities. This role is ideal for an individual with strong welding and automation knowledge, excellent collaboration skills, and the ability to apply engineering principles and technology to solve complex manufacturing challenges. In this hands-on position, you will work directly with robotics, PLCs, and control systems to improve equipment reliability, enhance manufacturing processes, and ensure production teams can meet operational goals. You will support both new automation projects and continuous improvement efforts within existing systems.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree
  • Associate of Applied Science degree with 5+ years of relevant experience, or Bachelor of Science degree with 2+ years of relevant experience (co-op or internship experience may qualify).
  • Demonstrated experience with: Robot programming (Yaskawa/Motoman preferred)
  • PLC programming (Rockwell Studio 5000 preferred)
  • HMI programming (FactoryTalk View Studio preferred)
  • Electrical systems, including machine enclosures and schematics (480 VAC, 120 VAC, 24 VDC)
  • 2D CAD software
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Solid understanding of GD&T principles.
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to handle multiple concurrent projects independently.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across engineering, maintenance, and production teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for clear documentation and stakeholder updates.
  • Willingness to work occasional off-hours, weekends, or plant shutdowns to support equipment installation or respond to unplanned downtime.

Responsibilities

  • Automation & Controls Support Provide plant support to achieve production goals by: Integrating new robotic equipment.
  • Maintaining and improving reliability of existing automated systems.
  • Programming and troubleshooting PLCs on new and existing equipment.
  • Delivering hands-on electromechanical support to engineering and maintenance teams.
  • Product & Process Development Participate in new product development to advise on manufacturing feasibility, automation needs, and best practices.
  • Support the design and implementation of new manufacturing processes that align with production goals.
  • Equipment Procurement & Implementation Assist in sourcing new manufacturing equipment.
  • Serve as a liaison between plant teams and equipment vendors to support both projects and ongoing equipment needs.
  • Collaborate on part fixturing and tooling design to improve or develop manufacturing processes.
  • Attend equipment buyoff events to evaluate system capabilities and ensure alignment with specifications.
  • Continuous Learning Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging technologies, processes, and industry best practices through training, certifications, and trade show attendance.
