Manufacturing Controls Engineer
About The Position
As a Manufacturing Controls Engineer in the Manufacturing Engineering team, you will serve in a critical role focused on optimizing and improving the performance, reliability, and automation of manufacturing and test equipment. This position enhances existing systems to drive greater efficiency, uptime, safety, and product quality, while also supporting the design and development of new equipment and controls solutions when required. By combining traditional equipment engineering with modern industrial controls, automation, and programming expertise, this role strengthens overall production capabilities across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Optimize and improve manufacturing equipment, systems, and processes to increase efficiency, throughput, and quality, while also supporting the design and development of new solutions as needed.
- Lead feasibility studies, cost analyses, and proposals for new production technologies.
- Support cross-functional integration with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and R&D teams.
- Implement preventive maintenance strategies and improve equipment reliability and uptime.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting for mechanical, electrical, and automation-related equipment issues.
- Develop, program, and implement PLC and HMI screens from scratch.
- Analyze and interpret wiring diagrams, control schematics, and system architectures.
- Design or modify control panels, support panel selection, layout, and integration.
- Troubleshoot electrical and controls systems using engineering fundamentals and multimeter diagnostics.
- Support CANBus communication setup, data acquisition, machine communication, and test-stand control logic.
- Develop automation sequences to improve production efficiency, reliability, and safety.
- Identify automation opportunities for production, testing, quality assurance, and safety, drive implementation.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives using data-driven analysis and modern controls solutions.
