About The Position

The Manufacturing Continuous Improvement Intern will support manufacturing process improvement initiatives by collecting and analyzing data, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and consistency, and problem solve issues to root cause. This role partners with Operations, Engineering, and Continuous Improvement leaders to eliminate waste from processes, develop methods to make work easier, and support productivity-focused improvements. The internship provides hands-on experience applying continuous improvement manufacturing principles in a production environment. This intern will be an active participant in the C.H. Guenther Internship Program cohort, receiving mentorship, professional development, and networking opportunities. C.H. Guenther is dedicated to delivering an enriching internship experience that goes beyond hands-on work to support long-term professional growth. The intern program will run from June 8 to August 14, 2026.

Requirements

  • Junior or Senior pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Mathematics or a related field in engineering or business administration.
  • Desire to understand work being done and ask why the work happens in the way it does
  • Openness to learn, receive guidance, coaching, and development
  • Willingness to see where the work happens and observe work as it happens
  • Proficiency in data analysis and basic problem solving skills
  • Able to communicate with those doing the work every day and build rapport
  • Able to lead small projects with people from different backgrounds for a common outcome

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with operational systems or manufacturing environments is a plus but not required
  • Familiarity with the Toyota Production System is a plus but not required

Responsibilities

  • Measure and document current-state manufacturing processes, including cycle times, fluctuation, and periodic work.
  • Support the development of standardized work, work balance / full work, and process flow.
  • Assist in identifying process improvement opportunities through data analysis and observation.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, and Continuous Improvement partners to support process improvement initiatives.
  • Apply continuous improvement manufacturing tools and principles to support productivity, consistency, and waste reduction.
  • Support documentation of improvement recommendations, updates, and learnings.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities to gain exposure to cross-functional problem-solving and implementation.
  • Prepare summaries or presentations to communicate findings and improvement opportunities to stakeholders.
