About The Position

The CNC Machinist I role is familiar with the processes associated with Pryer Aerospace’s Machining facility. This position will be continuously gaining skills and experience while responsible for operating (CNC) machines used to manufacture precision aerospace components. This role involves setting up equipment, loading materials, monitoring operations, and inspecting finished products to ensure they meet engineering specifications. The machinist works under close supervision and follows established procedures with high quality standards. This position will play a crucial role in the production process and contribute to the company’s overall performance in Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety, and Attitude (QCDSA). Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required, technical training preferred completion of a CNC machining certificate or vocational training.
  • One (1) to five (5) years of related manufacturing and machining experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Proficient in math and measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, etc.).
  • General understanding of aerospace industry quality standards (e.g., AS9100).
  • Familiarity with CAD, CAM, MRP and ERP systems.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and other Office products.
  • High level of initiative, High Quality standard, First part quality.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate a commitment and desire for continuous improvement
  • Legally able to work in the U.S.
  • Adhere to OSHA, NADCAP, ISO9000 / AS9100, ITAR, FAA regulations and company specific safety standards.
  • Internal Certifications: Forklift, Slings/Cranes, FPV or others deemed appropriate.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods (up to 8-12 hours per shift).
  • Able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25-50lbs regularly, and occasionally heavier weights with assistance.
  • Must be able to tolerate exposure to manufacturing environments, including moderate noise levels, vibrations, and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required, Such as safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC machine tools, primarily 3-, 4-, and 5- axis milling equipment, as well as lathes.
  • Read engineered blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Perform accurate measurements using calipers, micrometers, and other precision tools.
  • Monitor machine operations and adjust to maintain accuracy.
  • Provide machining technical skills and problem-solving solutions.
  • Compares machine setup parameters with specifications on operations setup sheet.
  • Follow all safety and workmanship policies in a high-precision, aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment.
  • Maintain accurate production, maintenance, inspection records, in accordance with AS9100.
  • Periodically verify the conformity of the parts being machined to the specification in the router packet.
  • Deburr parts to achieve smooth finished edges and ensure accurate locating and nesting of multiple operations
  • Basic understanding of G-code programming.
  • Keep shop work areas clean and organized for efficient workflow and readiness.
