Manufacturing CAD Designer (SolidWorks)
About The Position
The CAD apprentice will be a detail-oriented and motivated individual. This entry-level role is ideal for someone looking to build a career in CAD drafting and design within a manufacturing environment. You will learn to produce precise technical drawings, understand engineering principles, and gain proficiency in CAD software while supporting the design team. The CAD Apprentice is responsible for completion of schooling, mentor training and cross-functional production training as defined by the Engineering Manager. This includes design engineering support for new and existing products, including part, tool, fixture, and gage design in a metal fabricating and assembly environment. Requirements

- High school diploma or equivalent; technical coursework or interest in CAD is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office, Windows).
- Willingness to learn and take direction.
- Good communication skills and a collaborative attitude.
- Strong work ethic and a desire to grow in a technical field.
Nice To Haves
- Enrollment in or recent completion of a technical drafting or design program.
- Exposure to any CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, etc.).
- Interest in manufacturing, engineering, or architectural drafting.
Responsibilities
- Under the guidance of the CAD Administrator and Manufacturing Engineers, complete Design Mentorship elements including, but are not limited to: Satisfactorily complete course work as defined by Mentorship program
- Read and interpret part prints, print changes and specifications
- Prepare detailed tool component drawings and bill of materials
- Prepare part, supplier, inspection and process drawings for Production
- Pass competency requirements for each phase of the Design Mentorship program
- Support internal teams with other design assistance as required
- Other duties as assigned or required
- Assist CAD designers and engineers with creating and modifying technical drawings and blueprints.
- Learn to interpret and revise CAD drawings based on specifications and redlines.
- Support data entry, file management, and drawing organization within the CAD system.
- Participate in team meetings, take notes, and follow up on assigned drafting tasks.
- Perform simple dimensioning, labeling, and detailing under supervision.
- Maintain accuracy and consistency in all drafted documentation.
- Observe safety, quality, and confidentiality standards in all work performed.
