About The Position

The Manufacturing Associate Manager is responsible for direct supervision of production operations, quality, immediate maintenance coordination, and safety. This includes supervising hourly employees on shift and indirectly overseeing more employees on off shifts. The supervisor performs safety, quality, process, and mechanical checks and aligns business operations to exceed customer expectations while meeting GPI's business, cultural, financial, and operational objectives. The role involves day-to-day management of personnel or multiple operations to continually meet all operational requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Paper Science, Chemical or Industrial Engineering, Production Management, Business Administration, or related field; or significant, closely related work experience required in lieu of degree.
  • 2-5 years of manufacturing supervisory experience required.
  • Minimum 2-4 years experience in water, and/or wastewater, and laboratory operations preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of water and/or wastewater treatment.
  • Thorough knowledge of water quality and environmental regulations affecting the business.
  • Continuous Improvement - Lean/Six Sigma knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with and supervise a team of operations technicians.
  • Direct and support activities and personnel compliance in developing a safe work environment and fostering a culture of safe performance.
  • Assist local, State, and Federal regulatory agencies during inspections.
  • Respond (on-call) to Water Quality problems, taking appropriate corrective action including documentation to advise management.
  • Report on problems and issues.
  • Ensure adherence to policies, programs, standards of performance, and approved objectives related to water quality.
  • Assist in the procurement of treatment chemicals and manage receipt of chemical supplies to assure adequate supply.
  • Monitor equipment, chemical feeds, etc. to ensure standards are maintained.
  • Assist with training of plant operating staff, field services, and other water quality personnel in treatment practices and environmental initiatives.
  • Support water quality activities related to the Environmental Management Program to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Achieve productivity by establishing and communicating clear goals, providing requisite resources to the team, engaging the team, and monitoring progress.
  • Achieve desired level of engagement by providing leadership on the shift.
  • Achieve quality and waste goals by ensuring all direct reports are properly trained on equipment and procedures.
  • Administer, communicate, and interpret work procedures and company policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
