About The Position

The Manufacturing Associate - Assembly and Materials position at General Dynamics Mission Systems involves assembling and inspecting complex, high reliability Electro-Mechanical-Optical products. The role requires attention to detail and mechanical aptitude to meet quality and productivity objectives. Associates will work collaboratively to eliminate manufacturing defects and process inefficiencies while managing production materials using a computerized MRP control system. The position is available for both first and second shifts, with specific hours outlined for each shift.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Passing score on the ACT WorkKeys Assessments: Applied Math, Graphic Literacy, Workplace Documents, Workplace Observation.
  • Passing score on the Bennett Mechanical Comprehension Test.
  • Ability to attain certification/qualification for performing various assembly/material operations.
  • Ability to obtain a Company license to operate a forklift/powered industrial vehicle.
  • Proficient with email, data entry, and production/material management systems.
  • Three to five years of experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred but not required.
  • US Citizenship is required due to the nature of the business.
  • Possess an active DoD Secret level security clearance.

  • Manufacturing experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high reliability assembly using manual tools, fixtures, and process machinery.
  • Understand and follow manufacturing work instructions and equipment operating procedures.
  • Perform material control activities to receive, count, label, inspect/disposition, store, select, transfer, pack/ship, and transport production material.
  • Safely perform work while wearing personal protective equipment.
  • Inspect own work, work of peers, and supplied material using various measuring tools.
  • Document assembly and inspection information on paper forms and in computer systems.
  • Clean and organize work area on a daily basis.
  • Perform additional tasks to support the efficient operation of the business.

  • 1st Shift Starting Pay = $20.32/hr. with growth to $28.95/hr.
  • 2nd Shift Starting Pay = $22.35/hr. with growth to $31.84/hr.
