About The Position

Hood Industries, Inc is seeking a Manufacturing Area Superintendent for our Beaumont, Mississippi plywood facility. This is a greenfield site that will employ up to 250 employees. As a Manufacturing Area Superintendent, you will play a critical role within the business by ensuring assigned areas operate in the safest, most efficient, and profitable manner. Lead your assigned manufacturing area by utilizing the Hood Management Philosophy of 'The Hood Way' by engaging People and managing through Process to drive sustainable Performance while maintaining positive employee relations, meeting the company's production goals, while operating within company policies, guidelines, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor's degree preferred; experience may be used in place of a degree.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience.
  • 5+ years of experience within a manufacturing environment, with prior wood products experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of plant/manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent technical aptitude.
  • Strong sense of teamwork and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage key performance indicators (KPI's) for the assigned areas, including budgets, productivity, inventories, safety, quality, etc.
  • Prepare and monitor quarterly, monthly, and weekly budgets and forecasts as required.
  • Work with direct reports to establish performance goals for assigned areas, and coach staff to achieve goals.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to supervisors and develop promising employees for future opportunities.
  • Drive cooperation and collaboration among plant employees.
  • Resolve operating, scheduling, and production issues as needed.
  • Consistently reinforce a commitment to customer-focus toward both internal and external customers.
  • Establish consistent processes, standards, and expectations for the assigned areas to ensure ongoing performance within company, regulatory, and legal requirements.
  • Provide leadership and set an example of proper professional conduct for others.
  • Support the implementation of a reliability maintenance and continuous improvement culture across the facility.
  • Drive the continuous improvement process through direct reports.
