Just look up. Are you ready to go beyond? Pratt and Whitney Digital Technology has an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Applications and Controls Engineer. This will be an onsite position supporting the manufacturing shop floor utilizing the latest state-of-the-art technology in aerospace manufacturing at our East Hartford, Connecticut plant facilities. What You Will Do: The Digital Technology Application Engineer is responsible for the development, support, maintenance, and troubleshooting of both custom-built and commercial off-the-shelf manufacturing applications. This role supports critical shop floor systems, including machine tool HMI interfaces, manufacturing tracking and prioritization tools, process data consolidation, reporting and visualization platforms, and Statistical Process Control (SPC) systems.

Requirements

  • An advanced degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience; OR a Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience; OR an Associate's degree with 10 years of project management experience; OR in lieu of a degree, 12+ years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience with machine tool control networking and/or DNC applications.
  • Experience with the Ignition platform by Inductive Automation.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, with a solid understanding of manufacturing principles.
  • U.S. Citizenship required; must be able to pass a background check.
  • Must be able to work onsite at the designated location in East Hartford, CT.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including VBA.
  • Experience with programming languages such as .NET, Java, or Python.
  • Experience extracting and manipulating data from Oracle and SQL Server databases.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills; ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to manage priorities independently.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the upgrade and replacement of the P&W Distributed Numerical Control (DNC) application.
  • Design and develop HMI/SCADA interfaces for shop floor machine tools.
  • Develop custom business applications to collect, analyze, and report operational data critical to plant performance.
  • Monitor application performance; troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical issues as needed.
  • Enhance and modify existing applications to support new compliance requirements and evolving business needs.
  • Modernize legacy applications by converting them to current technologies (e.g., Visual Basic to VB.NET).
