About The Position

The Engineering and Technology Department invites applications for a Manufacturing Engineering Instructional Academic Staff member to prepare career-ready engineers and engineering technologists in alignment with UW-Stout’s polytechnic tenets of applied learning and research, business and industry partnerships, and career focused education. We emphasize experiential learning by providing students with authentic as well as hands-on experiences in both classroom, laboratory, and industrial settings. The Engineering and Technology Department at the University of Wisconsin-Stout offers six undergraduate programs, including Computer & Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering (B.S. and M.S.), Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Engineering Technology, and Packaging. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in at least two of the areas listed in the Responsibilities section below. The anticipated start date is August 18, 2026.

Requirements

  • M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or related field by employment start date.
  • Ability to teach in a combined lecture and lab environment.
  • 3 years industry experience in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • Interest in advancing student learning in the area of engineering.

Nice To Haves

  • Project management experience.
  • 3 years successful teaching experience or supervision of student workers, e.g. interns.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance
  • Develops instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction
  • Serves as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations
