About The Position

Instructor is responsible for the planning and implementation of various manufacturing courses. Instructor is required to create a course syllabus, instruct students in the subject matter in accordance with that syllabus, maintain attendance records, assess student progress and evaluate course work for a letter grade. Instructor will maintain college standards in all aspects of professionalism, record keeping and instruction within the team atmosphere of the manufacturing technology department of Rogue Community College.

Requirements

  • An Associate of Science degree in manufacturing or industrial trades, is preferred.
  • A Bachelor's degree or 5 years of experience in manufacturing or certifications in millwright, machining, and/or other professional certifications preferred.
  • Possession of a valid Oregon Driver's License and proof of an acceptable driving record are required for assignments requiring operation of a motor vehicle.
  • Current ASE Master Auto Technician certification in all eight automotive repair categories is required.
  • Advanced level L1 ASE certification is desirable.
  • Recent training certifications from multiple car manufacturers are desirable.
  • Manufacturing processes, machine tools, and teaching experience at the high school or college level are preferred.
  • A demonstration of CAD, machining or programming competency may be required during the interview.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, machine maintenance, drafting, metallurgy, Computer aided design, blueprint reading and CNC operations or programming to industry standards.
  • Experience with computer applications for communication and learning, including word processing, the Internet, multi-media presentations, spreadsheets and database management.
  • Sensitivity to a diverse student body and its needs.

Responsibilities

  • Instructs students in a classroom, lab, learning center, or other setting as appropriate, such as machining, CAD, metrology and CNC programming.
  • Advises students on matters of program goals and course requirements, scheduling office hours as required.
  • Prepares, distributes and utilizes instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media, and other devices as appropriate.
  • Develops, communicates, and utilizes a student assessment process and instruments which are related to the stated objectives of the course.
  • Participates as a team member in departmental meetings and planning activities.
  • Participates in curriculum planning and development as needed.
  • Participates in the development of the quarterly class schedule and the annual departmental budget; initiates purchase requisitions, travel requests, and work orders as needed.
  • Engages in regular professional growth activity based on the objectives established in an approved professional manner.
  • Represents the program and the college to the community, business, public agencies, and other organizations in a professional manner.
  • Responsible for departmental equipment: participates in periodic inventory and provides for the security of facilities and instructional materials as appropriate to the department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
