About The Position

The position is a union role that requires the ability to work all three shifts. The essential function of the job involves laying out work, building and repairing tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and parts under the direction of supervisory personnel or from written or verbal instructions, blueprints, and sketches. The role includes building and overhauling machinery, setting up and operating all tool room machines to specified tolerances, and using machinist’s hand and power tools and measuring instruments. The employee will also perform necessary mathematical calculations and may be required to conduct welding, brazing, and heat treating operations. Additionally, those serving as CNC Operators will set up their own work and tooling, make alignment checks, set tooling offsets or trims, inspect their own work, and monitor machining operations to prevent tool crashes due to programming errors and other unplanned situations.

Requirements

• Two (2) year technical degree or equivalent experience.
• Two years practical experience with demonstration of skills in a work based assessment.

Responsibilities

• Lay out work, build and repair tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and parts.
• Build and overhaul machinery.
• Set up and operate all tool room machines to specified tolerances.
• Use machinist’s hand and power tools and measuring instruments.
• Perform necessary mathematical calculations.
• Conduct welding, brazing, and heat treating operations when required.
• Work with operators and setup leads on installation of new setups and revised setups.
• Set up own work and tooling as a CNC Operator.
• Make alignment checks and set tooling offsets or trims.
• Inspect own work and monitor machining operations.
• React to prevent tool crashes and costly downtime.
• Complete and pass a formal 6 month training program.
• Abide by safety policies, operator preventative maintenance, and housekeeping practices.
• Ensure the quality specification of the product.
• Accurately complete process and quality documentation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Communicate respectfully with others.
• Work with limited supervision.
