About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented Manual Tester to join a mission-driven team serving federal clients and veterans. This role focuses on developing and executing functional test cases, validating software functionality, and ensuring high-quality deliverables across complex IT systems. You will collaborate closely with developers, project leads, and stakeholders to clarify requirements, execute tests, and report defects. The position offers opportunities to work in a fast-paced environment using Agile and other SDLC methodologies while supporting large-scale federal projects. You will contribute to improving testing approaches, supporting user acceptance testing, and maintaining clear documentation. The role is remote, providing flexibility while enabling meaningful impact on software quality and operational success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of IT industry experience with functional and technical testing.
  • Proficiency in Agile methodology and exposure to multiple SDLC models (Waterfall, Iterative, Agile).
  • Experience testing Java, .Net, Web, SOA, and ETL applications; some Java development experience preferred.
  • Strong skills in SQL, Oracle, MS-Access, and intermediate understanding of Unix and Windows environments.
  • Experience with Jira, VersionOne, or similar requirements tracking tools.
  • Ability to analyze functional and technical design documents, create test plans, test scripts, and execute tests.
  • Excellent written, verbal, analytical, and coordination skills.
  • Experience in user story analysis, defect management, and requirements traceability.
  • Ability to pass a Moderate Background Investigation (MBI).

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed functional test scenarios, test cases, and procedures based on functional specifications.
  • Execute test cases, validate results, log defects, and assist in debugging and documentation.
  • Maintain and update test data repositories (DSTRs) and define the level of effort for test case development.
  • Collaborate with project leads, developers, and federal stakeholders to clarify requirements and testing needs.
  • Assist in user acceptance testing and support federal and contractor resources during test execution.
  • Recommend improvements to functional testing approaches, tools, automation, and documentation.
  • Communicate test results and issues clearly to team members and stakeholders.
