About The Position

Overview: To perform basic setups, select tooling and required equipment for machining of parts as required. Has an understanding of basic machinery. Will require assistance and guidance during roughing and finishing operations. Able to perform work in a safe and timely manner to meet customer needs. Requires a substantial level of supervision most of the time. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency
  • 1-3 years’ experience with rotating turbo machinery
  • Experience with rigging
  • Experience with manual machines

Responsibilities

  • Conducts his or herself in a professional manner at all times.
  • Promotes safety and quality at all times.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Some knowledge of basic machine equipment and machining operations of various machines: horizontal and vertical lathes, layout machines, vertical boring mills, horizontal mills, grinders, deburring tools, fixtures, radial and angular drill press, forklifts, cranes and various forms of rigging, jib hoists, personal computers, and other required tools necessary to perform the job.
  • Basic knowledge and accuracy in using various measuring devices: micrometers, indicators, calipers, gauges, and other required tools necessary to perform the job.
  • Average understanding of use for tooling, drawings, work scopes, procedures, specifications and documentation to perform the primary function of the job.
  • Ability to perform minor setups for basic machine tool operations requiring minimal steps. This includes turning, boring, facing, milling, drilling, reaming, tapping, sawing, slotting, grooving, grinding, and other required actions to complete the job.
  • Limited ability to hold tolerances.
  • Ability to read and comprehend drawings, sketches, job scopes, and verbal instructions.
  • Basic understanding of preventative maintenance of machine equipment.
  • Able to learn to accurately measure and record all dimensional inspections as needed and pass annual dimensional inspection tests within a reasonable amount of time.
  • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Accepts ownership over work performance and works to improve skill set.
