SUMMARY Set-up and operate conventional and special purpose machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements. Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, grinders, and shaper. Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut. Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust machine or control media as required. Verify conformance of finished workpiece to specifications. Set-up and operate machine on first run articles to verify accuracy of machine settings. Fit and assemble parts into assemblies. Verify dimensions and alignment of assembly. Perform required daily maintenance of machine tools and shop equipment. Perform various machine repairs as required. Keep work area in clean and safe order. Support and comply with safety procedures. Confer with Machine Shop Supervisor, Engineers, Production employees, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems. Temporary assignment to various Atec facilities may be required as needed to support Atec operations. Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment. Ensure activities are conducted in accordance with Atec International Standards Organization (AS9100/ISO) policies and correct and report any deviations to appropriate area manager/supervisor. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES N/A AS9100/ISO SPECIFIC DUTIES Be familiar with and understand Atec Quality Policy and company objectives. Understand required AS9100/ISO specific Procedures and Work Instructions. Complete all records required by Procedures and Work Instructions. Participate in Atec Continuous Improvement activities as appropriate (including Strategic Planning, AIM, Suggestion box, etc.). Participate in AS9100/ISO training as required. Cooperate with Auditors. Report any deviations to appropriate area manager/supervisor.
