About The Position

Midwest Valve Services, a Novaspect company, is currently offering an opportunity for a Manual Machinist to join our fast-paced, customer-oriented team. The successful candidate will exemplify and promote Novaspect Identity throughout the team while having advanced manual machining experience and excellent mechanical skills.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience working with manual machining
  • Must have mechanical aptitude
  • Good verbal & written communication skills
  • Must be able to take direction, use initiative and follow through to completion
  • Must be willing to work on site at customer facilities
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to be insured on company insurance
  • Must be willing to learn and improve skill level for future advancement
  • 10% travel annually for cross training and support purposes
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Ability of hands to grasp and manipulate small objects/tools
  • Ability to work with hand tools
  • Ability to work at heights
  • Ability to stoop, crawl and crouch while working on equipment on hands and knees
  • Ability to work on your feet for 8 hours per day
  • Ability to work in a loud industrial environment
  • Comfortable working around industrial equipment with exposed moving parts
  • Ability to climb stairs (up to 20 flights per day)
  • Ability to climb a 20 ft. ladder
  • Ability to drive on average 3-4 hours in a day
  • Ability to drive 8 hours as needed in a day – although not typical
  • Ability to work in hot and cold temperature environments for extended hours

Nice To Haves

  • Valve, pump or actuator experience a plus
  • Welding ability is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Advanced knowledge in the setup and operations of Manual Milling Machines and Vertical Lathes
  • Knowledge and proper selection of: Tooling, cutting speed, feed rates
  • Ability to troubleshoot and correct machining issues
  • Ability to manually machine parts to precise dimensions and finish per drawings
  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and blueprints
  • Understanding of Basic Metallurgy
  • Understanding of material combinations related to wear and galling
  • Understanding of Heat Treating
  • Apply advanced math skills to: Verify measurements, calculate dimensions, verify tolerances
  • Design and fabricate custom tooling and fixtures
  • Performs service requests as assigned under the supervision of the Shop Manager and Field Lead Technicians
  • Drive company vehicle to and from job sites
  • Maintain a clean work environment
  • Follow all safety guidelines
