About The Position

The Manual Machinist II independently performs machine setups and machining operations required for the repair and manufacturing of aviation components. This position requires strong technical knowledge, precise measurement skills, and the ability to troubleshoot machining processes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of machining or manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Strong understanding of machining practices and shop math.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and repair routers.
  • Advanced use of precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to troubleshoot machining issues.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical machining training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate manual machining equipment including lathes, mills, grinders, or similar machines.
  • Interpret routers, drawings, and repair instructions.
  • Align and secure workpieces, fixtures, and tooling on machines.
  • Calculate speeds, feeds, cutting depths, and machining sequences.
  • Perform precision machining operations to meet tight tolerances.
  • Inspect parts during machining to verify dimensional accuracy.
  • Troubleshoot machining problems and adjust processes accordingly.
  • Replace and maintain cutting tools and fixtures.
  • Maintain compliance with aviation repair procedures and quality requirements.
  • Assist and support apprentice and junior machinists as needed.
  • Maintain safe and organized work areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
