About The Position

The Manual Machine Operator position involves the operation and management of various process and offline equipment, including presses, furnaces, grinders, and sandblasting machines, while adhering to strict quality and safety standards. The role requires participation in team initiatives aimed at identifying and resolving safety issues, as well as developing LEAN solutions throughout the manufacturing process. Operators will be responsible for the independent and safe operation of equipment necessary for the production of super abrasives and related products, ensuring that all tasks are completed within specified work assignments.

Requirements

  • Good interpersonal, cooperative, and team-oriented skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to use production management tools including LEAN and material management systems.
  • Manual dexterity to accurately handle and position parts.
  • Ability to lift and transport materials weighing 20-40 lbs.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply training for operating manufacturing equipment.
  • Ability to balance priorities and multiple tasks to achieve production goals.
  • Availability to work overtime during high order volume periods.
  • Basic computer competency including email and data entry.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in team initiatives to identify and resolve safety issues.
  • Participate in developing LEAN solutions throughout manufacturing.
  • Independently operate all equipment necessary for the production of super abrasives and related products.
  • Operate automated machinery, presses, lathes, mills, furnaces, wire EDMs, and robotic equipment.
  • Handle hazardous chemicals and operate chemical processing equipment.
  • Perform hand assemblies of products, blends, and sieved materials as required.
  • Use measuring tools, gauges, scales, microscopes, and visual standards to interpret results.
  • Perform minor tooling changes, setup, and troubleshooting on production equipment.
  • Assist area experts with higher difficulty tooling setup, changeovers, and troubleshooting.
  • Conduct basic preventative maintenance tasks including lubrication and equipment cleanliness.
  • Maintain housekeeping in assigned work area.
  • Train others on the safe operation of manufacturing equipment.
  • Adhere to documented work instructions and assure product and process quality measures are maintained.
