About The Position

The position involves working in a machine shop environment, where the individual will be responsible for setting up and operating various manual and CNC machines to produce parts. The role requires planning the sequence of operations, troubleshooting equipment, and ensuring compliance with internal specifications and third-party requirements. The individual will also interact frequently with internal and external customers and support functions, and will be expected to participate in team initiatives and improve product efficiency and quality.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalency.
  • 3 years machine shop experience.
  • Ability and willingness to use basic hand tools and measuring devices (i.e. - dial calipers, rulers, tape measures, protractors, micrometers, gauges, etc.) as required within department.
  • Intermediate mathematical calculations involving decimals, ratios, etc.
  • Intermediate understanding of blueprint and process sheet interpretation.
  • Prior working knowledge of machine shop operations.

Nice To Haves

  • 3-5 years machine shop experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Education and/or training in machine shop operations.
  • Understanding of CNC and manual machine operations.
  • Experience in a self-directed team environment.
  • Lean manufacturing knowledge.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to use Microsoft applications to analyze data (i.e. - Word, Excel, Oracle, etc.).
  • Familiarity with 5S & lean manufacturing knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Plan sequence of operations to produce part(s).
  • Set up and operate all manual equipment (i.e. - lathes, drill presses, milling machines, grinders, hand tools to fabricate parts and tools, etc.).
  • Set up and operate CNC lathes, milling machines, grinders, and EDM.
  • Perform duties on complex prototypes or first-time builds.
  • Compliantly troubleshoots tools, fixtures, and equipment as necessary.
  • Ensure speeds, feeds, and tooling is correct for material being processed.
  • Perform job responsibilities according to internal process specifications and third-party requirements.
  • Frequent interaction with internal and/or external customers and support functions (i.e. - Planners, Engineering) outside of home department.
  • Report problems to appropriate resource and/or Coach.
  • Proactively work to improve efficiency and quality of products.
  • Participate in and support team initiatives.
  • Utilize proper PPE, safety equipment, and follow safety procedures per position requirements.
  • Exemplifies and coaches' others on the GE Leadership behaviors.
  • Other duties as required.
