Mandarin Chinese Language Instructor (Part Time)
About The Position
Under the supervision of the Director of Educational Development, the Mandarin Chinese Language Instructor plans and facilitates beginner level Mandarin Chinese language instructional sessions. This role involves meeting regularly with the Director, planning and facilitating both group and one-on-one instructional sessions, and assisting students with developing appropriate study skills, completing homework and projects, and exploring topics of interest. The instructor is also responsible for maintaining consistent communication with the Director of Educational Development and modeling appropriate academic and social behaviors.
Requirements
- Ability to work with students of diverse ethnic backgrounds, academic profiles, and skill levels
- Possess good interpersonal and organizational skills
- Must demonstrate responsibility, a desire to help others, discretion, and flexibility
- Knowledge of academic content and skills
- Application of such knowledge and tools to help students access material
- Ability to collect and analyze data to drive future instruction
- Ability to work independently applying critical thinking skills and problem solving to various situations
- Must have extensive teaching and/or tutoring experience in Mandarin Chinese
Responsibilities
- Plans and facilitates beginner level Mandarin Chinese language instructional sessions
- Meets regularly with the Director of Educational Development
- Plans and facilitates group and/or 1:1 beginner Mandarin Chinese language instructional sessions
- Assists students in the development of appropriate study skills, completion of homework and projects, and exploring topics of interest to the student
- Maintains consistent communication the Director of Educational Development
- Models appropriate academic and social behaviors
- Performs other duties as assigned
