About The Position

We are excited to welcome a new Managing Veterinarian to our mixed animal practice at Conneaut Lake Veterinary Hospital! As our practice continues to expand, we’re looking for a compassionate, collaborative veterinarian who’s ready to lead a supportive, well-equipped environment. Our doctors pride themselves on staying current with medical advancements and providing thorough, individualized treatment plans. Our practice offers comprehensive veterinary services including wellness care, diagnostics, boarding, surgery, and limited daytime emergency services. The practice offers the opportunity to see large animal as well. As our Managing DVM , you’ll play a vital role in both the clinical and operational success of the practice. This is the perfect opportunity for a veterinarian who enjoys practicing high-quality medicine and leading by example. You’ll be responsible for: Providing medical and non-medical leadership within the hospital Managing and mentoring associate veterinarians Ensuring compliance with all veterinary medical policies and regulations Cultivating a culture of teamwork, communication, and continuous improvement Driving medical excellence and advancing standards of care Collaborating with hospital leadership on operational decisions Monitoring financial performance and helping set strategic goals for continued growth This position offers a unique blend of hands-on clinical practice and leadership influence—ideal for someone who’s excited to take ownership in both patient outcomes and team development. Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited AVMA institution.
  • Appropriate state licensure.
  • Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients.
  • Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Providing medical and non-medical leadership within the hospital
  • Managing and mentoring associate veterinarians
  • Ensuring compliance with all veterinary medical policies and regulations
  • Cultivating a culture of teamwork, communication, and continuous improvement
  • Driving medical excellence and advancing standards of care
  • Collaborating with hospital leadership on operational decisions
  • Monitoring financial performance and helping set strategic goals for continued growth
  • Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.
  • Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results.
  • Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.
  • Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed.
  • Provide counsel around pet end of life care.
  • Maintain patients’ medical records.
  • Ensures compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statues, policies, and procedures.
