About The Position

AECOM is seeking a Managing Principal to be based in Hunt Valley, MD with the primary responsibility to lead and grow the multi-disciplinary Architecture and Engineering practice. A successful candidate for this position is an industry-recognized market leader focused in Aviation or Transportation and able to grow AECOM's position in the Baltimore Metro. As this is a Practice Building position, we are seeking an individual who has the experience in developing visibility and client relationships in the Public and Private sector markets. The selected candidate will have strong client relationships, and an established client and industry network. The ideal candidate understands and has a proven track record in, driving business fundamentals that include Business Development, client leadership, financial oversight, design quality, and project delivery, and can convey innovative design thinking and solutions. AECOM's Buildings + Places practice includes architecture, interiors, building engineering, workplace strategy, business transformation, asset advisory, economics and development planning, master planning, urban planning, and landscape architecture. With a range of expertise from strategy and design through project realization, we create better outcomes to grow economies, protect natural systems, conserve natural resources, make societies more equitable, and connect and engage people through innovative, sustainable design solutions. Our teams have worked on signature projects such as the London 2012 Olympic Park and Legacy Framework, the new plan for the LA2028 Olympics, industrial facilities for GE and Rolls-Royce, headquarters and workplaces for NASA, Unilever, Sony Music, DirecTV, Box, Inc., and many Fortune 500 companies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Architecture or related industry degree (Engineer, Interior Designer, or Planner) and 10+ years of related experience and/or demonstrated equivalency of experience and education.
  • 2 years of demonstrated leadership.
  • Licensed professional Architect, Engineer, or Interior Designer.
  • Experience in the Baltimore - Washington D.C. marketplace, especially Aviation and Transportation entities, key clients, and industry trends is paramount.
  • Experience and skill in strategic business development, client relationships, and driving sales and revenue.

  • Master's Degree in business.
  • The ability to support and lead business development activities through early client interaction, "scope of work" development, interviews, and ongoing client maintenance interface.
  • Acted as principal-in-charge of a large/multi-disciplined project /consultant team.
  • Established project scopes, work plans, and work schedules.
  • Successfully delivered projects within the clients' budget/schedule requirements.
  • Successfully delivered project scope and fee, delivering targeted profit to the firm interfaced with project managers on schedules, project review meetings, issues management, and client expectations.
  • An ability to travel and/or work remotely with teams.
  • A strong desire to train, mentor, and develop staff to grow their careers and the business.
  • 8+ years of experience in the aviation and transportation markets having worked with clients such as MAA, MDTA, MWAA or WMATA.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for developing and executing the strategic growth plan for the Baltimore Metro, including developing and executing client outreach goals.
  • Leads the local strategy in assuring that we are building client relationships, strategically pre-positioning, winning, and delivering the most important work in the region.
  • Together with regional leadership and market sector leaders, build high-performance design teams - soliciting and managing client feedback to align operations and allocate resources according to strategic priorities, recognizing and unleashing the potential of others by providing the needed environment, resources, coaching, experiences, and other support champions an innovative and collaborative culture.
  • Champions change - makes the AECOM vision understandable, creates buy-in to the vision by linking day-to-day work to the attainment of the vision, and engages and mobilizes others to drive change.
