About The Position

We are looking for a California Registered Land Surveyor candidate, with a minimum of 12 years' experience. The Managing Surveyor position is for a seasoned field and office Surveyor ready to manage projects along with the field and office staff. This position is based in our San Mateo office and offers a potential hybrid schedule, allowing work time to be split between the office and home upon management approval. The ideal candidate for this position is looking to transition into a leadership role to run the survey department. They are able to work independently with minimum supervision, have sound technical skills, are team oriented, personable, and possesses a strong desire to make a positive contribution to the business. They are a well-organized and versatile individual with excellent writing and verbal communication skills and is experienced in the various aspects of surveying.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of demonstrated surveying and project management experience
  • California Land Surveyor License
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills including an ability to interact professionally and knowledgeably with clients
  • Clear, concise, and grammatically correct oral and written communications
  • Excellent surveying math skills such as coordinate geometry and trigonometry
  • Skill with AutoCAD Civil3D
  • An attention to detail and error checking habits
  • Professional demeanor and appearance

Responsibilities

  • Contracts: Prepare proposals and estimate work, review contract language, prepare subconsultant agreements
  • Survey and Mapping: Prepare/direct preparation of Tentative and Final Maps, ALTA Survey Plats, Records of Survey and Corner Records, Legal Descriptions and Plats, Topographic and boundary surveys, and various other exhibits in AutoCAD Civil 3D from field data, record maps, and deeds
  • Quality control and quality assurance
  • Manage office staff and field crews
  • Maintain schedules and budgets
  • Review billings
  • Business development - Public/private sectors, marketing and winning work, maintaining sales target
