Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Civil, Environmental or Geologic Engineering, Hydrology, Hydrogeology, Earth Sciences, Limnology, Water Resources, or similar discipline
  • Registered professional engineer
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in consulting or government agency (e.g., regulatory agency, Army Corps of Engineers, FEMA)
  • Experience with common surface water modeling and GIS tools is desired (1-D and 2-D HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, FLO-2D, computational fluid dynamics models such as Delft-3D, etc.)
  • Experience modeling chemical fate and transport is a plus
  • Expertise in large dataset visualization
  • Excellent communication, organization, and writing skills
  • Must be detail-oriented, able to work independently and as part of a team, and manage time effectively
  • Strong ability to prioritize multiple projects with competing deadlines
  • Strong commitment to personal and professional development

Responsibilities

  • Examining surface water hydrology, flooding, and geomorphology
  • Analyzing the impacts of climate change on hydrology (floods, droughts, snowpack, and water supply impacts)
  • Synthesizing technical information and applying critical thinking to prepare and review reports and technical presentations
  • Working cooperatively on projects with other members of the Environmental and Earth Sciences Practice and interdisciplinary groups from other Exponent practices as appropriate
  • Developing client relationships and building business in the Environmental and Earth Sciences Practice
