In joining Stifel’s Venture Banking team, a Managing Director (MD) is responsible for leading efforts to support venture backed companies and their investors across all their financial services needs. This MD role is to join the investor coverage team and be responsible for engaging with venture capital investors to drive business opportunities for Stifel. The ideal candidate will have experience working in venture capital, venture banking, or related fields with a strong ability to build and grow strong relationships in the venture ecosystem.

Requirements

  • Knowledge in venture capital and venture lending
  • Strong team leadership skills to help coach, develop and retain team members.
  • Effectively communicate (written and oral) with clients, prospects, and executive management.
  • Understanding and interest in technology trends, key metrics, and capital markets impacting the innovation ecosystem.
  • Strong business acumen with ability to work collaboratively and cross functionally.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or related field
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain relationships with venture capital investors to drive deal flow and meet business objectives.
  • Collaborate with venture banking deal team colleagues on portfolio company opportunities.
  • Active in market at industry events and building the Stifel Venture Banking brand.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of the venture capital industry and Stifel’s products and services.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team of the bank to develop new products and best position the Stifel platform in market.
  • Develop strong understanding of broader Stifel platform (including Investment Bank, Wealth Management, etc.) and identify and drive opportunities across the platform.
