About The Position

The Managing Director Relationship Management acts as the central point of business contact for mega plans with asset values of over $500 million. The Managing Director is the primary contact for assigned client plan sponsor relationships for both clients and internal contacts. The Managing Director is accountable for assigned client relationships that includes strategy, overall service delivery, evaluating, improving and managing client satisfaction and risk / retention efforts, and client P&L management and evaluation. This Managing Director can be based in either the Denver metro area or Northern California.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent from accredited institution
  • 12+ years of industry and/or RM experience
  • 2+ years' experience working with senior leaders and key clients
  • Prior experience with mega corporate or segment market client relationships
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including presentations skills, building partnerships internally and externally including plan sponsors, consultants, key stakeholders and business leaders
  • FINRA Series 6 and 63 required within established timelines

Responsibilities

  • Own and manage key client relationships (>$500MM in assets), serving as the primary strategic advisor responsible for client satisfaction, retention, and profitability, including risk mitigation and P&L oversight
  • Enhance client satisfaction and loyalty by proactively reinforcing buying decisions, identifying needs, and delivering high-quality service experiences that strengthen long-term relationships
  • Lead client planning and engagement efforts, including the development and execution of strategic business plans, and participation in finals presentations and site visits from pre-sale through relationship maturity
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal SMEs and shared services teams to deliver tailored solutions in plan design, administration, compliance, communications, fiduciary governance, and operational execution
  • Provide expert guidance to clients and internal leadership, leveraging deep knowledge of Empower's products, services, and industry trends to anticipate issues and recommend improvements in process, product, or service
  • Deliver impactful client presentations on plan performance, regulatory and legislative updates, and market trends—both virtually and in person—to inform and influence client decision-making
  • Monitor key client health indicators, report insights, and recommend data-driven strategies to protect and grow relationships while continuously improving client and business outcomes
