About The Position
Carilion Clinic has been serving the medical needs of the people of southwest Virginia for over 125 years and has been at the forefront of using Human Factors to improve how we provide care. As medical technology continues to impact healthcare, Carilion Clinic is standing up a human factors usability consulting group that will provide HF consultation to external medical technology firms and startups, taking advantage of our high-fidelity simulation environment and proximity to subject matter experts in our clinicians and staff. The Managing Director of Usability will found the Carilion Clinic Usability Consulting Group (CCUCG), developing the infrastructure for executing usability consultation to the region, Commonwealth of Virginia and beyond. Responsibilities will include client acquisition and management, team management, and conducting and supervising usability assessments such as observations, interviews, surveys, system evaluations, risk analyses, and performance testing. The Director will manage task allocation, foster team collaboration, and ensure high-quality service based on usability best practices and human factors science. Additionally, this role will maintain communication with stakeholders, and build a client base to sustain CCUCG financially. The group will operate from the Carilion Center for Simulation, Research, and Patient Safety, utilizing existing simulation and human factors resources as needed.
