About The Position

ABL Managing Director Business Development – Asset-Based Lending (ABL) w a major U.S. Commercial Bank in New York, New Jersey or Connecticut The Asset-Based Lending (ABL) team of a major U.S. Commercial Bank that is part of a major International Bank focuses on delivering flexible financing solutions to middle market and sponsor-backed companies. The BDM will target clients in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, with a focus on middle-market, entrepreneur-led/privately-held companies, publicly-traded customers, and financially-sponsored businesses with financing needs generally in the $10MM to $75MM range, with further syndication capabilities in excess of $75MM. The team operates within a broader integrated banking platform, collaborating across Commercial Banking, Capital Markets, Investment Banking, Wealth Management, and Commercial Real Estate to provide comprehensive financial solutions.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in Asset-Based Lending, Commercial Banking
  • Minimum 5 years of proven success in a Business Development / Origination role within an ABL or Commercial lending platform
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting
  • Strong business development and relationship management skills with a proven ability to originate new deals
  • Deep understanding of asset-based lending structures, credit fundamentals, and risk considerations
  • Proficiency in CRM and prospecting tools (e.g., Salesforce, Pitchbook, RelPro, Loan Connector)

Responsibilities

  • Prospect and originate new ABL opportunities across middle market and sponsor-backed companies
  • Build and maintain a strong network of referral sources including financial intermediaries, advisors, and private equity sponsors
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for prospective clients
  • Assess client needs and recommend tailored financing solutions
  • Maintain and manage CRM systems to ensure accurate pipeline tracking
  • Build visibility in the market through industry associations and networking
  • Partner with internal Commercial Banking and Product teams to deliver ABL solutions
  • Work closely with Underwriting and Portfolio Management teams on new opportunities
  • Provide guidance during credit approval processes for new deals
  • Support Portfolio Managers in deal structuring and negotiation
  • Contribute to efficient deal execution and client onboarding
