About The Position

The Managing Attorney at the International Institute of New England (IINE) will lead a dedicated team providing high-quality immigration legal services. This role involves overseeing legal representation for various immigration matters, managing a caseload, and ensuring compliance with immigration policies. The Managing Attorney will work closely with the Senior Director of Immigration Legal Services and will be responsible for both client services and managerial duties within the immigration legal services department.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an ABA accredited law school or international equivalent.
  • Current bar membership in good standing in any jurisdiction in the United States.
  • Minimum of three years of experience practicing immigration law.
  • Minimum of two years managing paralegals or other support staff.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Strong writing skills and effective communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual candidates preferred, especially in Spanish, French, Haitian Creole, Portuguese, Arabic, Khmer, and/or Hindi.
  • Experience with CRMs (E-Immigration and Salesforce) or other databases.

Responsibilities

  • Perform client intake and assess eligibility for immigration relief.
  • Provide immigration legal representation to low- and moderate-income individuals and families before USCIS.
  • Monitor and maintain an organized caseload, including proper client files and documentary evidence.
  • Conduct legal research as necessary.
  • Work closely with partner community-based organizations to ensure holistic service for clients.
  • Participate in continuing legal education (CLE) programs to remain current in best practices.
  • Manage legal team support staff, including assigning projects and ensuring training.
  • Lead the internship program within the Immigration Legal Services department.
  • Maintain and update immigration database with detailed client case notes.
  • Develop training videos for onboarding new staff and interns.
  • Assist with the creation and maintenance of client/grant trackers.
