As Manager, Waterfront Cost Estimating, you will prepare estimates for various projects ranging from conceptual to detailed quantity take-off and pricing for all design phases. Projects span Maritime, Environmental, Storm Water Utility, and the Northwest Seaport Alliance. You will also provide ad hoc support for Corporate and Aviation divisions as needed. You will manage estimates requests and assign responsibilities to team members based on skill set and timing needs. You also make periodic improvements to the estimating intake site to better facilitate workload management. You will review completed construction cost estimates and review estimate elements, including pricing, scope, design documents, schedules, project logistics, and operational impacts with team. You will analyze contractor schedule of values and plans to obtain specific trade costs and develop unit costs where possible. You will evaluate design documents, identifying potential cost issues, risks, market information, and constructability or design discrepancies to reduce change order occurrences. You will assess appropriate contingencies based on specific project requirements, risks, and historical costs and validate estimates from design consultants. You will participate in meetings with all parties to review scope, examine differences, and provide final recommendations to design and/or planning team on dollar value that should be used for official documents. You will update and maintain cost database reflecting bid results from Port of Seattle projects and projects of similar scope and complexity that have bid in the Northwest. You will perform quantity take-offs and calculate labor productivity, material, subcontractor, and equipment costs. The Port of Seattle is unable to sponsor employment visas at this time.
