About The Position

The Manager of the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) at Dallas Water Utilities is responsible for overseeing all operations and maintenance activities of the wastewater treatment facility. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, manages staff performance, and develops long-term operational plans to enhance efficiency and service delivery.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Eight years of experience in high-volume water utility operations, including two years in supervisory or management roles.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Current Class A Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator's License from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
  • Knowledge of departmental management and water/wastewater systems.
  • Ability to prioritize work and facilitate efficient service delivery.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in a science or engineering field.
  • Experience with budgeting and procurement activities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, direct, and lead all operations and activities of the wastewater treatment plant department and staff.
  • Oversee the conditioning and processing of wastewater/bio solids in compliance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Manage hiring and performance evaluation procedures for the department, including discipline and time management.
  • Develop and implement long-range plans and schedules for operational efficiency and maintenance projects.
  • Evaluate plant performance and oversee the Maintenance Management System to ensure proper equipment use and compliance with standards.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with contractors and other city departments to ensure efficient work.
  • Develop and implement the department budget, ensuring cost-effective procurement of parts and materials.
  • Coach and train employees, identifying training needs and facilitating promotions and terminations.
  • Implement methods to improve production and effectiveness, ensuring adherence to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Perform any additional work as needed or assigned.
