About The Position

The Manager, Volunteer & Event Services is responsible for supporting the strategic growth and sustainability of the state-wide Volunteer program.

Requirements

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information in a clear and courteous manner.
  • Effective administration, coordination, and presentation skills, with strong attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Extensive computer experience in word processing, and database input and management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently, as well as work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and demonstrate effective time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to supervise large groups of people.
  • Regular attendance required.
  • Must be able to travel and work night and weekend duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Cervis (volunteer software) and Smartsheet is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Director, Volunteer & Event Services in development and execution of all strategic initiatives for recruitment, recognition, and retention of volunteers.
  • Develop and manage all pre- and post-event communication to volunteers for assigned events.
  • Prepare all materials needed for on-site volunteer management, such as sign-in sheets and training documents.
  • Respond to inquiries made by volunteers via phone and email.
  • Identify opportunities and support community outreach efforts for the recruitment of individual and group volunteers.
  • In partnership with the state sports team, manage the recruitment, on-boarding and management of Class A leadership volunteers, including but not limited to volunteer leads, sports leadership teams and logistics team volunteers.
  • Manage the request process and recruitment of administrative volunteers to assist all departments for projects such as packing / unloading days, warehouse clean-up, etc.
  • Support volunteer check-in, volunteer training, and the overall volunteer experience at all state sports and development events.
  • Reconcile post-event volunteer attendance records to ensure an accurate database of Class B Volunteers and their involvement exists within the computer system.
  • Availability to work nights and weekends.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
